I came across an article on WireHeadArts about 16 Lies and half-truths in the Camera business that I thought most of you should be interested in reading. Especially if you’re thinking about a camera purchase in the near future.
I did have a bad experience once with an online “camera store”. The “kit” was filled with crappy accessories and the shipping took twice the time they said it would. I was able to, after much calling and “negotiating”, send their “product” back and get my money back. Of course I headed over to B&H afterwards and got the real deal that I needed.
I learned this; I wouldn’t have saved that much money, it wasn’t worth the wait, and I’ll never use an “online discount camera store” again! Only use reputable businesses to make purchases, especially online.
In case you were wondering, it was the Canon 30D when it first came out. Talk about sticker shock! I just looked it up on B&H to see how much it costs now, and I almost lost my breakfast. I paid twice that amount. I guess that’s technology!

I agree with you. I’m shopping presently for a Canon 40D and I’m just going to get the body with a couple of select lenses.
We’re lucky though to be living in the age of the internet. We can have other’s opinion and research for the best possible price, before plunking down the cash.
I’m excited to explore more of your blog. I love reading about photography!
