Over the weekend I asked our readers in the Your Photo Tips.com Flickr Group to provide a one sentence tip for new photographers. As you can see, we have some really fantastic people involved in our little community. One of my favorite things about the group is the wealth of knowledge and help you can attain just by getting involved.

The Flickr Group is a great place to get help with almost anything camera or photography related, whether you shoot film or digital. So if you have a question that needs a quick answer head on over to our group and ask away.

Here are 16 Quick Tips for New Photographers!

  • Great tips - especially matt_cinque's tip!
  • Great tips. I think I liked the most: "Start with a 50mm on film, and learn to walk before you zoom." OK, the part with "on film" is not true for me because I'm all digital, but the rest is perfect true.

Fantastic tips! I enjoyed them all especially:

matt_cinque - dont listen to me or anyone else

Sometimes that is the perfect advice...Learn technique but find your own creatitivity and your own style!
  • Great post! Love the advise and tips!

As a relative beginner (I've been taking pictures for 6 months), the best advice I received was 'get close to your subject'. The difference it made to my photos was immense.
  • Another photography tip for portraits: put the camera down 1st and talk with them. Putting your subject at ease and making them feel comfortable with you will contribute more to good images than the most expensive camera and lens you could own. Jay
