Well, it comes as a shock to me that PhotoShelter’s Collection is closing because I thought that the project would really take off. That means no more Shoot! The Blog which I had linked to a couple of times in the past. I really loved that blog. But fear not, as Rachel Hulin has started her own blog, so we’ll still benefit from her insight and humor. Oh yeah, she’s asking for help in naming the blog so drop on by and help her out. I know she’ll really appreciate your support.
Social media is such in important part of today’s photographer (hello Flickr) that even big media companies like 3M want to get involved. Only they really screwed a photographer on this one. You have to read this article on how a big budget campaign wouldn’t even pay a photographer a fraction of their marketing campaign money for creative license. It’s absolutely disgusting.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to photograph a model then learning from a beautiful model and an excellent photographer simply can’t be beat.
Our good buddy Rob Nunn has gotten some images accepted into iStock photo and he’s sharing his experience with everyone. This is a great way to learn which images make it and why.

Sony has announced their newest DSLR with a whopping 24.6 mega-pixel full frame sensor. That should make Brian Auer pretty happy as I’m pretty sure he’s a Sony shooter (when he isn’t fiddling with his newest obsession with film).
For you Canonites the new Canon EOS 5D (whatever it’s supposed to be called) should be coming out soon. Here’s Canon’s teaser as a rotating add on the Canon website (Destined Evolution). I’m not expecting more than common sense upgrades in quality as the teaser is titled “Evolution” not “Revolution”. Maybe it’s just me? Also here is a great guess on the unveiling date of the new Canon.

We are currently reading The Camera by Ansel Adams as part of the Your Photo Tips Photography Book Club. This is now a monthly endeavor and the review will come at the end of September 2008. If you haven’t gotten your copy it’s not too late and don’t forget to send me a review. I really want to hear some of your thoughts on the books we’re reading. I’ve changed the poll in the sidebar to vote on which photography book we will review next. So if you’re reading this in your feed reader you’ll have to head to the website to vote if you haven’t already.
Now it’s time for my favorite part. Images selected from the Your Photo Tips Flickr Group. There’s a theme with this one. I’ll bet you can guess what it is. Enjoy!
