Yep, this one’s all about Photokina. That means new camera gear galore and major announcements!
Photokina
Wired has a great collection of announcements all in one place. Like a 3-D point and shoot, Pentax’s new entry level DSLR, Olympus’s micro Four Thirds digital camera and more. Great images for these announcements. The Four Thirds camera by Olympus is beautiful.
It’s not all about cameras though. Accessories from various companies really garnered a lot of attention. Janice Chen of ZDNET talks about why the new Lensbaby Composer was her favorite digital camera accessory.
Cameratown has a list of over 60 new camera models introduced at Photokina.
TWICE has the scoop on HP’s new Large-Format printer. I’d love to see some of the prints made on that printer.
Market Watch as details on the ColorChecker “Where in the world is your ColorChecker?” contest. You’ll have to head over there to read about how you can enter your images in the contest (don’t forget to read the “terms of service” and ensure they are fair).
Apparently there was only one new film camera announced? This comes from Adorama’s news desk.
Digital Camera Review has some details on Fujifilm’s 3-D concept camera, Lensbaby’s composer, and Leica’s D-Lux.
Just like every other show in any other industry there are booth models to help show off the new technology and bring attention. DCI has The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of Photokina’s booth model fashions.
This is just a small sampling of all that was Photokina.

Don’t forget that this month’s book for the Photography Book Club is The Camera by Ansel Adams and will be reviewed on Monday 9/29/2008! This means that you have a very short amount of time to vote for which book will be read and reviewed next. The poll is on the right sidebar so if you’re reading this in a reader, you’ll have to click through to participate. This also means that if you wanted to submit your own review for The Camera by Ansel Adams, you need to send it to damien[at]yourphototips.com as soon as possible so I can post it as well.
Here are some super fantastic images from you guys at the Your Photo Tips.com Flickr Group. Enjoy!
