Quick Photo Tip
Do not be confused by the term “shutter speed”. Shutter speed isn’t about speed really. It’s about duration of time. Or more specifically, the duration of time that the shutter is open, allowing the light from the subject to come through the lens aperture and be recorded by the sensor or film.

When will they learn? Lala.com is a site that seems to very concerned with the rights of musicians (good) but not at all concerned about the rights of photographers (bad). One of these days I’m gonna take my images offline. Okay, that really won’t happen, but sheesh.

It isn’t very often that I throw my hat into the Photo Tech ring (I like to focus on the process rather than the equipment), but Chase Jarvis has even me RED with envy. This camera may have a rather large price tag, but for commercial photographers, this is game changing. Think it won’t affect you? Wrong. As technology grows ever more expansive in our previously analog world, digital photography, arguably, gets cheaper and cheaper and better and better. Canon and Nikon will have to change the way they play the game if this technology takes off like I believe it will. Do I want one? You bet your sinking assets I do. Never before have I fallen victim to the “new technological equipment, life changing, work changing, photography changing, OMFG I’ve gotta have this or I will die” bug, but I have it now. Or rather, it’s got me now. Yes Chase, I too am RED with envy.
I’ve always liked the idea of geo-tagging images. The problem, so far, has been in work flow. Looks like there might finally be an answer that is both easy and viable. The ATP Photofinder Mini looks very promising indeed.
Have you noticed the quiet revolution? Want a teaser? It’s all about dynamic range.

Did you get your copy of Minimalist Lighting: Professional Techniques for Location Photography for the Photography Book Club? I just got mine in the mail and have given it a very thorough scan. I can say that it looks good so far. We’ll have the review near the end of the month so you have some time left. If you’re not interested in this book, let your voice be heard by casting a vote for the book to be reviewed next month. The poll is in the sidebar to the right.
Now, some images from you, the readers. Enjoy!
