100 +1 Best Photography Blogs, Websites, Podcasts, and Magazines of 2008
admin | Dec 05, 2008 | Comments View Comments
Throughout the year I’ve seen many blogs and websites on photography come and go. This list, while not completely comprehensive, is comprised of the websites and blogs that have made it into and stayed in my feed reader or that I regularly visited throughout the year.
The Criteria:
- entertaining
- informative
- educational
- inspirational
- consistent
- creative
The photography websites, photography blogs, photography podcasts, and online photography magazines are not listed in any particular order (I set my feed reader to “auto” and went down the line). I couldn’t imagine trying to “rank” these wonderful sites when the authors and administrators have spent countless passionate hours creating such a wonderful online photography community.
This is my thanks to all of these wonderful people for their hard work.
If you don’t recognize a website, blog, podcast, or magazine then it may very well be in your best interest to give that site a visit. There are some truly magnificent gems to be discovered in this little list.

Thanks for including me in the list. I just love checking out the sites that other photography folks visit. It’s great to find new places to add to my RSS reader. I was surprised that you didn’t have Scott Kelby’s Photoshop Insider listed. Scott always has some great and informative stuff on his blog.

here's another one – wozofoto.com is a deal-a-day site for fine art photography. It's like a photo blog, except you can purchase an 8×10 print of the photo of the day for only $10.

Great list! Thanks a lot!
Ugg Australia has recruited designers like Manolo Blahnik, Carlos Falchi, Rebecca Minkoff, Rafe pictured, and more to design high-end versions of the brand's trademark boots for its seventh annual Art & Sole auction.
I have to assume these will be filed under unaffordable (which is good – more money for St. Jude!), but I'll still be going to the pickyouruggs.com Web site on December 1 to window shop and see what these designers have cooked up.
I am trying to picture what I would do to make these high end… Real Italian leather? A pearl brooch? Other expensive ingredients and sparkles? Maybe the differences won't be that extreme, but I hope each designer puts his personal touch on the shoe. I'm certain at the very least you'll be able to pick out which Uggs came from Betsey Johnson (UGG Classic tall 5815 boots, please!).
The event is likely to inspire as many interesting Ugg knockoffs as there are regular Ugg knockoffs, so it is possible we'll see something like this around town next year. It's not only a great event for charity but probably also a good move to keep Uggs alive and relevant… especially with the number of people who'd like to see them disappear for good!UGG boots on sale!
I will of course keep wearing my Uggs because A) I have them and B) they are warm, but if your kid asks Santa for Where the Wild Things Are UGG boots… I feel for ya.
Thank you for the great list. i will visit all of them.
Thanks for including my Podcast Damien,

Your camera usually will adjust to make whatever is in the center of the frame as 18% gray or true neutral. This means that if your frame is dominated by shadows, the light meter is going to read those shadows as “normal” and then everything thats not a shadow is going to get much lighter while the shadow goes from black to gray.
