Photographing Zombies

The undead can be really be hard to flatter in photography. I mean, most times you really want to capture the “life” and the “soul” of a person when doing a portrait. But what do you do when your subjects have no life and no soul?

You do what Tanya Plonka would do. You capture them in style!

If you’ve never seen her Zombie Gallery I suggest heading over there right now. Go ahead, I’ll wait…

Great. It’s always a wonderful pleasure to see photographers making waves and breaking trends all while having fun with their craft. Tanya is a wonderful photographer that exhibits a true love of photography and it really shows in her images.

This is part of the email exchange where I had to ask her “What’s up with those zombie pictures?”

“The zombie thing happened kind of by accident. The original creator of zombiepinups.com is a family friend of mine, and when I learned years ago she had made that I knew I just HAD to take part. It took me three years to get my first willing model, and then everyone has wanted it since then. What can I say, people like being undead.”

You can get a great behind the scenes feel about the zombie pinup sessions on her blog. I suggest checking it out as well.
