Ingnore Everybody: and 39 Other Keys to Creativity [Book Review]

This is gonna be a short review not in the format of our typical reviews because this book isn’t specifically about photography.

So why do the review on a photography tips website?

Ignore Everybody: and 39 Other Keys to Creativity

Ignore Everybody: and 39 Other Keys to Creativity

Because this is one of those well thought out, well written, highly insightful and informative books geared towards all creatives. This is a book I would recommend to any artist or entrepreneur whether they are emerging or established.

Ignore Everybody: and 39 Other Keys to Creativity by Hugh MacLeod of GapingVoid

I’m not here pimping Hugh’s book because I find his blog and his artwork inspirational…or maybe I am.

Doesn’t really matter because the book stands on it’s own.

You see, Hugh has done what most artists and authors have been too scared to do (myself included) and stood by his artwork and his personal mission regardless of obstacles. He was blogging before most and working in a medium that NO ONE thought would really work all while navigating through life’s ups and downs.

Ignore Everybody really spoke to me. It really confirmed some of the things I was already pondering and helped me to see that the path that I’m on is actually gonna work out.

Will it do that for you? I’m not sure.

I think each chapter sort of hits everyone a different way. That’s how great, insightful, thought provoking books work. They tend to speak to everyone in a personal and universal way all at once.

This one’s a home run.

Don’t believe me? Read the other reviews. I think those reviews do a great job of contemplatively looking at the book in it’s context, humor, insight, etc.

MacLeod didn’t just write a book on creativity…or art…or leadership…he wrote a book on the positive destruction of everything and nothing. And it was exactly what I needed.
