Discovered Art
I love this double exposure Hope by fine art photographer Victor Palagno. It’s available as a 9×12 for $240 and you can find more about this wonderful photographer at the DiscoveredArtists Blog .
Our good friend Niels Henriksen is giving away 2 signed prints at his blog My Camera World. It would worth your time to check out his blog even if he wasn’t giving anything away.
If you’re in San Francisco you’ll want to check out this gallery show at Robert Koch Gallery by photographer Brian Ulrich. Love this series.
Photographers that rock
Sometimes it takes a little intuition and creativity to stand out from the crowd. Michigan photographer Brett Maxwell has come up with a pretty awesome idea for his clients with Photo Guestbooks that are sure to become great talking and selling points for referrals and sales. Genius.
There are a couple of photographers in Austin that had the opportunity to create some beautiful maternity portraits. I knew they would turn out beautiful because that mom to be is my sister. Yes, good looks do run in the family.
Of course after maternity is baby and maybe it’s just me being a dad but I found these images from Los Angeles photographer Carrie to be too cute.
In the photoblogosphere
If our own Photography Book club isn’t enough for you then head on over to DIYPhotography for a great list of 10 Photography Books as recommended by the DIYPhotography readers. We’ve read a few of those books as part of our book club and this seems like a pretty good list.
Fashion and editorial photography is one of the most saught after and glamourous of all photography jobs. But for those in the industry, this story of how a photographer got screwed isn’t new, or news, or noteworthy except for the fact that it NEVER gets talked about. Still want to do fashion photography? Go ahead. You can have it.
If you’re on Facebook and a working photographer you should consider whether Facebook can help you become a pro photographer. If you’re already a pro it might be worth a read to see if you have some things to fix.
In post production
For all you Lightroom users here’s a great tutorial video on reordering photos in slideshows.
In photography podcasts
The Digital Life Photography Podcast has a great interview with landscape photographer Marc Muench and it’s very much worth a listen.
In Your Photo Tips news.
Last week we made the big announcement of our new photographer network the Exposure community. It’s been going really great with our Membership Drive so I wanted to thank everyone who’s been involved and helped out by spreading the word. Don’t forget that you still have the rest of the month to sign up and invite your friends for a chance to win some great photographer prizes from our awesome sponsors!
Also, don’t forget that because of the forums that are available at Exposure we now have a conversation place for the Your Photo Tips Photography Book Club where I’d love to have an ongoing conversation about the book we’re currently reading Criticizing Photographs: An Introduction to Understanding Images and/or books we’ve read in the past. It makes it more of a “Book Club” IMHO.
Changing things up a bit.
We will be featuring one member at a time from Exposure for a little while. Members are chosen for a variety of reasons; uploading great images, writing blog posts, participating in the forums, etc.
This week I’d like to introduce Daddy Papersurfer! He’s super friendly and writes a wonderful blog at DaddyPapersurfer.com so stop by and say hi. You can leave a comment on his wall or at his blog.
