A furniture outlet can be a terrific way to outfit your home or office in comfort and style at a low cost. Outlet stores have been around for years now and have been a way for anyone, but especially bargain shoppers to get the brand name and top of the line products such as clothing, shoes and even pots and pans, at lower prices than they would find at a regular retailer.

Yes this all sounds like handy equipment. My laptop actually has a slot to directly insert a camera memory card, which is a great feature.

Hmmm, I did post a comment here yesterday, but it is not showing. It must be due to me having issues with signing on with Disqus. Those are fortunately resolved now, and I will not re-comment.....

Spare batteries and memory cards are a must have, but when it comes to tripods creative use of furniture, ladder, bricks and the like have proven to be effective in overcoming the immeadiate need for a tripod. Guaranteed you'll purchase one as soon as you can afford it after having had to improvise in this manner ;-)

I'm actually not a proponent of cheap UV filters for the protection. Why put cheap glass in front of expensive glass? My advice is to use a lens hood. It's all I use for the protection of my lenses.

Excellent list.
I'd also like to add some cheap UV filters to the list. If you've come from p&s cameras, you aren't used to protecting your lens as much. A $10 piece of glass can prevent needing to replace hundreds (or thousands) of dollars worth of lens...
